Episode
The birth of a brand
The first Francfranc store opened on Tennozu Isle in July 1992.
It presented a unique, untethered, southern French style that could be adapted to each customer's own preferences and desires.
Rather than simply selling furniture and sundries, Francfranc aimed to offer a new set of values and an abundant way of life.
Background
Our background
Back then, Japanese interior furnishing stores mainly sold furniture in dull colors such as plain wood, beige and gray.
Francfranc departed from that pattern, debuting with bright colors.
We presented a lifestyle that incorporated vivid shades from the nature of the southern French such as the blue of the sky and sea, the deep green of olive leaves, the light of the sun, and the colors of flowers that brilliantly decorate earthen walls and the ground.
Principles
Our principles
Unbound by stereotypes, Francfranc was born to promote a lifestyle that pursues true abundance – a life lived surrounded by the things one loves. The French phrase “Art de Vivre”, which means "the art of living" or "the joy of living”, aptly describes the origins of the Francfranc brand.
